This project aims to breathe new life into the ancient art of dougong, a traditional Chinese architectural element known for its interlocking wooden brackets. As modern construction techniques overshadow historical practices, the rich cultural heritage of dougong risks fading into obscurity. Digital Dougong to merge the elegance of traditional dougong with the efficiency and precision of modern technology.

Utilising advanced digital tools like computer-aided design (CAD) and computer numerical control (CNC) machines, intricate dougong structures are created. They maintain their historical accuracy while benefiting from increased manufacturing efficiency. This fusion of the old and the new not only preserves the cultural significance of dougong, but also makes it more accessible and applicable in contemporary architecture.
