Fortune Hunting is an interactive experience that explores the role of superstition in our digital society. Despite living in a technology-driven era, it is intriguing how ancient superstitious beliefs remain steadfast.
This project follows the popular online trend of transforming the concept of ‘luck’ into a portable digital token. It explores how this token impacts collective behaviour, herd mentality, and anonymity, creating a virtual space known as ‘digital luck’. Capitalism plays a role in controlling the creation and distribution of these digital symbols, giving them influence over public behaviour. While luck is a force that provides comfort during hardships, its interplay with commercial exploitation can lead to ethical dilemmas.
By replicating online behavioural patterns in a physical installation, this project goes beyond traditional digital interfaces and encourages reflection on our electronic actions. In this tangible physical realm, players become performers for observers. In a world where superstition and technology overlap, Fortune Hunting disrupts the immersive narrative and promotes meaningful engagement.
