O·Duir is set in a speculative future where forest trees have drastically decreased. Appreciating trees and their natural environments is here possible only by accessing recordings or simulations that preserve aspects of trees but fail to capture trees in their full, multisensory experience.
The project centres around the invention of the O·Duir, an olfactory-visual multi-sensory experience system. The system, designed to delight visitors with distant memories of natural landscapes by encompassing olfactory impressions and visual immersion, enables a more complete experience. Visitors to O·Duir experience scents reminiscent of natural forests, while simultaneously entering a visual simulation of a forest environment.
The project reflects on deforestation and the resultant degradation of biodiversity and hopes to remind visitors of the importance of the natural environment for humanity’s future.
